Sub 3
…because it doesn’t seem “real” until you say it out loud (or type it 😉 ).
I’ve had the idea of a sub-3 hour marathon in the back of my mind for a long time. I mentioned it to my parents and Kyle this past summer, possibly earlier, but haven’t spoken much about it since.
Until now.
I see and feel my body changing, growing stronger, becoming leaner, and I know I’m capable of big things. Not that I haven’t done big things already, but I know I have much, much more in me.
A marathon time of 2:59:59 has an average pace of 6:51 min/mile. As of right now, that’s a little faster than my 5k pace. And a 5k is only 3.1 miles…I would need to hold that for *just* another 23.1 miles. No biggie, right?! 😉
Of course, qualifying for the Boston Marathon is still the first thing on my mind. But the closer I get to qualifying, and once I do qualify, the closer I get to sub 3. So win, win!
Progressing in running is not linear – not every marathon I’ve run has been a PR. Running marathons is a huge challenge, physically, mentally, and emotionally, but challenges excite me. So…Bring. It. On.

Thanks, Maureen! 🙂 I’ve been thinking it for a while now…but it’s such a huge thing, so it’s taken me a while to say. Hope all is well!
Best,
